Aidhmeanna / Aims of Naíonra Dhún Dealgan
The aims and objectives of Naíonra Dhún Dealgan are to promote a love of the Irish Language and Culture through the medium of language and play. Preschool education is a very valuable and important experience for all children.
The staff here believes it is important to maintain a close relationship with parents for the benefits of the children. We would ask parents, therefore, to contact us if any problems should arise and we the staff will do likewise. Personal information passed on by parents shall be treated in the strictest confidence.
By providing a safe, secure and interesting learning environment, we hope to encourage your child to become an independent, confident and happy individual. In order to achieve this, we believe in good discipline practice which creates conditions for effective learning and helps children to have responsible attitudes and values for life. Rules, regulations and discipline practices in school are necessary for the safety, wellbeing and enjoyment of all children.
Club Obair Bhaile / Homework Club
Os rud é go bhfuil an Naíonra suite ag an nGaelscoil agus toisc go bhfuil ár ranganna réamhscoile críochnaithe ag 11.45 a.m., támid in ann club obair bhaile a chur ar fáil do pháistí atá ag freastal ar na ranganna naíonáin sa Ghaelscoil ó 1.30 go 2.30, nuair atá an scoil ar oscailt.
Given the Naionra’s location at the Gaelscoil and as all our preschool classes end at 11.45 a.m., we are in a position to offer a homework club , at a nominal price, to children who attend the Gaelscoil from 1.30 to 2.30, when the school is open.
Naíonra Dhún Dealgan
Bunaíodh an Naíonra le hochtar sa bhliain 1993, i Halla an Chonradh i nDún Dealgan. Tá dul chun cinn mór déanta againn ó shin, agus anois tá 44 páiste ag freastal ar an Naíonra (22 i ngach seomra) agus liosta feithimh. Cé nach gcinntíonn spás sa naíonra áit do do pháiste sa Ghaelscoil, cuidíonn sé go mór leis/ léi agus é/í ag tabhairt aghaidh ar an mbunscolaíocht trí mheán na Gaeilge. Táimid lonnaithe ar champa na Gaelscoile.
The doors of Naíonra Dhún Dealgan opened for children in September 1993, in the Conradh na Gaeilge hall in Seatown, Dundalk. We started off with 8 children. Since then we have made a lot of progress. Our numbers have gone from strength to strength. We now have 44 children (22 in each room) who come between the hours of 8.45a.m. and 11.45 a.m. and a waiting list of children to enroll. The Naíonra is situated on the campus of Gaelscoil Dhún Dealgan, is H.S.E registered and adheres to the principles and standards of Síolta, Aistear and Gaelscoileanna.
Learning through play
In Naíonra Dhún Dealgan, your child will learn through playing within a carefully constructed programme suitable for his/her age and needs. Most activities listed below will be available daily for the children: – Imaginative Play (House, Hospital, Drama)
– Natural Materials (Sand, Water, Clay, Dough)
– Creative Materials (Junk, Paint, Crayons, Pencils etc.)
– Physical (Rhymes, Games, Sport in main hall)
– Construction (Duplo, Stickle bricks, Lego etc.)
– Table Top Toys (Matching, Sorting games, Jigsaws, Lotto)
– Quiet activities (Stories, Relaxation)
The Curriculum will also include visits to places of interest. Most days your child will bring a picture home. You should know by this craft precisely what theme on which the children are working e.g. Animals, Transport, House etc. It would be beneficial to the children if you, as parents, were willing to familiarise yourselves with the various Irish words which should be written on the craft and to use these words and phrases as often as possible in the house.
Healthy Eating Policy
We would kindly ask all parents not to send in bars, biscuits, treats including chocolate cereal bars. The children can take in one treat on Fridays only. We have also introduced a fruit break at 9.30 each morning. We would ask each child to take in a piece of fruit.
